Privacy Policy for Edge Collections Sidebar
Last Updated: June 15, 2026
Your privacy is extremely important to us. This Privacy Policy details how the Edge Collections Sidebar browser extension handles your information. We have designed our extension to be fully private and secure, collecting and storing all user data locally on your device.
1. Information We Collect
The Edge Collections Sidebar extension **does not** collect, store, or transmit any personal identification info, browsing history, or user data to any external server. Everything remains under your direct control.
- Collection Data: All your folder structures, links, descriptions, and custom notes are stored locally in your browser's secure IndexedDB storage.
- Page Thumbnails: When you save the current tab, the extension may capture a small screenshot thumbnail of that visible tab. This thumbnail is stored locally with the saved item and is not uploaded to any server.
- Sync Data: When using the "Sync from Microsoft Edge Collections" feature, the scraping and transfer process is done entirely locally within your browser.
- Backups: The backup files (.json) you import or export are handled locally on your machine and are never sent to our servers.
2. Optional Pro Features (Gumroad Integration)
The extension includes optional Pro features that require a license key purchased via Gumroad.
- To validate your license key, the extension makes a secure HTTPS connection directly to the Gumroad API (
https://api.gumroad.com) using your license key.
- This check transmits the license key, product identifier, and an activation usage flag so Gumroad can limit one license key to one browser profile or device. No browsing data, collections data, or personal details are transmitted during this validation check.
3. Third-Party Services and CDNs
The extension is fully self-contained. It does not load external fonts, styles, tracking pixels, or scripts from third-party Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) or external servers during extension operation. This satisfies Chrome and Microsoft Edge security standards and ensures private browsing.
4. Data Retention
Since all data is stored locally on your device, your data is retained until:
- You manually delete a collection, item, or note inside the extension sidebar.
- You uninstall the extension (which prompts the browser to clear the extension's local IndexedDB database).
5. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be updated on this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically to stay informed about how we protect your privacy.
